Today is ANZAC Day

For as long as I can remember

ANZAC Day has been a time that our family gathered around my father

For many years, it was my job to keep time with the marching band

And push him in his wheelchair in the local ANZAC Day parade

This year I was on the footpath

Remembering him and all those who serve and have served our country

Freedom is a privilege

That we cannot afford to take for granted
